Puppy Starter Session
Nothing takes the place of a pup attending Puppy School - it is where a solid social foundation is built, and owners should do all in their power to ensure their pup attends. However, for those people that really want to do the absolute best they can for their pups, or for those that just can't get to puppy school due to work or family commitments, the Puppy Starter Session will get you off on the right foot, and help you to mould your little one into a well behaved member of the family. One that knows exactly what it can, and cannot do, and a pup that feels safe and secure, knowing that its human family understand it, and what is expected from them. We really do have a limited period to bring in the good habits, make sure you take advantage of this critical learning period.
This session takes place in the comfort of your own home if you fall within my areas, alternatively, you are welcome to have your session at my premises in the Lyndhurst area of Jhb and is in the region of 1.5 to 2 hours in duration.
What your Puppy Starter Session will Consist of:-
- Tools and knowledge to change any current concerns you have.
- Learning the Sit and Down
- Bite Inhibition - How to lessen the chances of your fingers being nipped when offering food or playing
- Bringing in the basic House Rules - these are based on how dogs interact with themselves and are the foundations of good behaviour.
- Toilet Training
- Swap - how to get your pup to release anything it is chewing on
- Information on how to satisfy your pup's chewing instinct and how to supply the necessary mental and physical stimulation a pup needs.
- Walking on lead without pulling
- Food Bowl Exercises - to ensure that your pup does not develop resource guarding over food and it's food bowl.
- Teaching a solid Recall so that your pup will come back to you easily and happily
- Information on how to help your pup develop into a social butterfly!
- What to do if your pup shows any fear - this is not unusual, especially as the pup gets slightly older - fear periods do occur.
- How to avoid Separation Anxiety.
- Some basic Touches, based on TTouch to help to calm and settle your pup.
- Information and how to handle temper tantrums.
- As Scotty is an accredited and qualified canine behaviourist, she will be able to point out any concerns that may be noted.
