Option 2 - Theory and Boot Camp R15050

To book & Enquiries
We receive so many requests for 'out of towners' to partake in the course, including the practical sessions that we have designed a course specifically suited to them. This means that students will just have to come up to Jhb once to do the practical sessions, and it will also cut down on the amount of days taken off work.

This will work in the manner that students do all the Theory per email up to the end of Module 3 and they will then come up to Jhb for our intense Boot Camp. The Boot Camp will be a Wednesday afternoon to a Sunday afternoon. Students will be responsible for their own flights (and if you book at least a month in advance can get a very good price), however, we will pick you up and drop you at the airport for the return journey home.

The course can be paid off in two sections - R10800 for the course by terms up to 24 months with no interest or alternatively on Payfast.

The Book Camp is R4250 and terms can be arranged with us with no interest, or alternatively to make use of Payfast. The Boot Camp can only be undertaken at the end of Module 3.

We arrange dates between us with you arriving at about 2p.m. on a Wednesday and returning late Sunday afternoon.

Accommodation

When students come up to Johannesburg (Lyndhurst area), we will supply basic accommodation and food (maximum will be two people sharing). This is a room with two single beds with your own toilet and shower. A menu will be available and if you are a vegetarian or vegan, this will be catered for. This means that you only need to come up to Jhb once instead of a few times over the 30 month period, will not have to miss more days off work, and still get all you will need.

Content

The Practical Boot Camp will  include all the basics which are crucial as you will need to be competent in these in order to teach them to clients for whichever behaviour concern you are seeing them for  –

Sit, Down, Stand ; Bite Inhibition ; Leave exercise ; Fun Recall ; Real Reliable Recall, Collar Grabbing ; Basic Wait ; Professional Pullers; Balance Lead and Super Balance Lead ; Loose lead walking ; Fading, Swap, ‘Parking’ a dog, Food bowl exercises (x2), Swap exercise, Visitor exercise for dogs that show reactive or fear behaviour, changing jumping up and dealing with dogs that are fearful. We also go over all exercises such as desensitizing in general, (also to both Muzzle and Head Halter) , counter conditioning, introducing dogs, Alone Time Training for dogs that are over dependent or have separation anxiety as well as the Away exercise.

One basic session of TTouch (this does not qualify you as a TTouch practitioner, but does give you the skills you need for yourself) and Equipment, We already do these concentrated sessions down in the Cape, so know easily achievable. We have 3 dogs for you to practice on daily, plus the session on Introducing dogs is done with dogs that donot know one another, so you can really see how to develop these skills.

We also go over the Questionnaires and Pre-Planners with you and teach you how to put together a straight forward report for clients.

After you have mastered the basics, you will be sending us video’s (What’s app is also perfect), on you doing a demo on the various exercises one at a time. so that we can be assured that you have mastered the necessary skills, so practicing the skills you have learnt is vital.
