Changing from Commercial dog food to the Raw Pet Foods Diet

Many people are concerned about changing their dogs onto a raw product, but this is very easily accomplished. Here are some options you can consider:

  • If the dog has no tummy problems, you can change over immediately, but we do suggest using a pre- and pro-biotic product called Simply Natural Nutribiotic. This product also contains substances that help regenerate and protect the gut lining. The reason for this is that dogs use different amounts of enzymes and bacteria for commercial food than they do for raw food. We would suggest 1 x teaspoon, sprinkled on top of the food.

  • If mild tummy trouble on occasion, or the dog is a fussy eater, then introduce the nutribiotic as above, but instead of feeding all raw immediately, add in at 1/4 packet for a few days at a time, then another 1/4 per day and so on until fully on the raw diet.

  • If your dog does have tummy troubles, which is not unusual on dogs fed on a dry diet, then just go a bit slower. Start with the nutribiotic for two days prior to feeding, and then keeping the nutribiotic in place, introduce the raw food  slowly adding in a Tablespoon per day until you have built up to all raw food.

  • Remember when adding the raw bit by bit, to take the previous diet away bit by bit too.
