A career with dogs is really a wonderful and exciting career to consider – each and every day is different and watching a dog with fear behaviour for example, become a confident and happy dog is a sight that warms the heart and gives one a feeling of a job well done. In addition to getting to work with these wonderful animals on a daily basis, it really is a profession that has opened up so very much and there are now many different genre available to people wanting to peruse a career with dogs – knowing and understanding behaviour will stand you in excellent stead, no matter which direction you decide to go forward, whether Doggy Day Care, Grooming, Behaviour, Instructing, Dog Walking, Holiday Care, Kennel Owner etc.

This course is presented in an easy to follow format and is unbelievably comprehensive and will give you everything you need to start your career.
On this unique course you will gain:-

  • A complete and well rounded knowledge and understanding of why dogs do the things they do right from pups to seniors.
  • Know the reasons as  to why the different behaviour concerns occur.
  • Receive the knowledge, ability and tools to be able to change behaviour concerns and start your career.
  • The best, most comprehensive foundation you can get so that you can take your skills and studies further.
  • All material is presented in an easy to understand format
  • Monitoring and assistance for the first year of having your own practice.
  • Over 22 Practical sessions undertaken over the whole course
  • 4 One on one Skype Sessions 
  • 8 Role Play Skype Sessions on working with clients. 
  • At least 2 Case Studies to be done before qualifying. 
  • You have 24/7 access to us by email during the week
  • You can start at any time during the year and have 27 months to complete the course. We are closed from 15th December to 15th January annually. 
  • On successful completion , you will qualify as a Canine Behaviour Advisor Level 1 (CBFC-FODS) and be able to start your career.
  • You will receive full mentoring for a 12 month period so that you receive the back up and support you require. This will allow you to gain the practical experience and under take further studies which are required before you can apply to the ABC of SA™.for accreditation.
  • This course is recommended by the Animal Behaviour Consultants of South Africa™ and counts for points towards Accreditation.
  • All successful graduates will be bound by our code of ethics ​
 Your Time Investment
  • Practical Sessions -   Held twice a year in the Cape on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 0 Practical sessions include the following: Basic obedience one on one : Fearful dogs : Practical sessions including Sit, Down, Stand, Bite Inhibition, Leave Exercise, Wait, Recall, Watch. Balance Lead, Super Balance Lead, Loose Lead Walking ; Professional Pullers ; Equipment (includes desensitizing to Muzzle and Halti): Stopping Jumping Up, Preventing resource guarding; Introducing Dogs ; Meet and Greet : 2 full sessions of TTouch. The methods we use are 
  • Skype Sessions - House Rules : Personal Behaviour Consult with own dogs : Exceptions to House Rules ; Questionnaires ; Pre Planning ; 8 x Role Play.
  • Theoretical - the notes are sent out by email and at the end of each section there are a few questions to answer relating to the section you have just completed. At the end of each module there is a simple quiz based on the material you have just read. There is no research required or heavy assignments to complete in Modules 1 and 2.
  • Mentoring - you are fully mentored for a twelve month period after qualifying. Students to submit clients Questionnaires, Pre Plan and Reports. This ensures that students receive all the backup and assistance they need while they build their own practice. ​

As you reach Module 3 where the work becomes totally behaviour related, there will be more work involved with includes a small amount of research and learning to work with and analyise questionnaires and how to prepare and present reports. 

Your Financial Investment

You have 27 months to complete same.The full price is R10800 inclusive of all of the above. Payment is a deposit of R500, followed by monthly payments of either 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 24 months. The course must have paid in full before Certification is awarded.

Further Options

Once a year, in both the Cape and Gauteng, we offer the Clicker Masterclass. This is a fully comprehensive course that gives you an unbelievable insight into how to work with dogs, timing, back chaining etc. It is highly recommended for anybody training to become a behaviourist. 

The course fee is R1800 for straight forward Masterclass, however is you would like to become a Clicker Instructor and teach other, the course will cost you R2200.00. Should you decide to include this with your course, it can be added onto your basic course, with monthly installments.
