My own passion is behaviour and what I have endeavoured to do is to give you the most comprehensive course possible that really does cover the A – Z of all things dog. The course is presented at a grass roots level that will give you a solid understanding as to why dogs do the things they do, how to prevent behaviour problems and how to solve them and so much more.
This course can be your first stepping stone if you want to consider a career with dogs and will give you a rock solid foundation to take your career forward and put you in a position to undergo more in-depth training and studying. This course is recommended by the ABC of SA™.
Should you not have the time to undertake the full behaviour course; it can be done in consecutive modules, as detailed below. As long as the assignments in each module are completed and sent in for marking and comment, they will constitute part of the full behaviour course. Certification of successful completion of each module will be awarded.
On successful completion of all 3 modules, you will qualify as a Canine Behaviour Advisor Level 1 (CBFC-FODS). You will receive full mentoring for a 12 month period so that you receive the back up and support you require. This will allow you to gain the practical experience and under take further studies which are required before you can apply to the ABC of SA™.for accreditation.

The course is made up of three modules:-
Full Practical Course – Modules 1, 2 and 3

Booking for the Full Course Fee in advance does award you a considerable discount, and the full course fee is R9600.00 as opposed to R11250 for the 3 Modules paid individually. A deposit of R500 is payable on registration, followed by 6, 9, 12 or 18 monthly payments on debit order for the balance. You have a full 27 months to complete the full course, which awards plenty of time for those working on a full time basis. Alternatively we do have credit card facilities available for payment of the full course fee.
To qualify as an accredited behaviourist with the ABC of SA™, at least 3 years experience is required as well as more in-depth study into the Ethological aspect of behaviour as provided by our Level 2 Canine Behaviour Advanced Course.
You can enrol for the course at any time during the year. However assignment are not marked or sent out from mid December to mid January annually
CBFC – Module 1 - Puppy and Adolescent Section

Practical Sessions Included:
7 Sessions at Puppy School - during these sessions you will both observe, learn how to do the basic exercises yourself, and also how to teach these to your future clients. You will undertake an exam on both the Theory and Practical aspects of teaching clients at Puppy School, by presenting to an Instructor.
Should any students wish to attend further Puppy School sessions for more experience, this can be arranged.
The fee for this section is R3750 payable by way of a deposit of R500 on commencement and 3, 6 or 9 monthly instalments. Alternatively we do have credit card facilities available. A 9 month period is allowed to complete the course and certification of successful completion is awarded.
CBFC02 – Module 2 - Adult Dog Behaviour

Practical Sessions Included
- 2 x TTouch Sessions – Unless the 3 year TTouch course has been undertaken you cannot teach clients to do TTouch – however you can use these tools yourself on your clients dogs. Excellent way to reduce stress in dogs and teach a new manner of responding to given situations.
- Monthly Practical Sessions held on a Saturday morning from 12 - 2p.m. – it is impossible to become a good behaviourist unless you have practical, supervised experience while you are learning. In these sessions we work not only on honing your basic obedience skills so that you are proficient by the time you work with clients, we also work on various aspects of behaviour so that you receive the necessary skills to teach client how to do the modifications and any exercises involved, themselves.
- Monthly Skype Conference Sessions discussing various aspects of the course. These are with student participation.

CBFC03 – Module 3 - Adult Dog Behaviour

Practical Sessions
- 3 x Private Sessions – Questionnaires– learning how to use and analyse a questionnaire correctly is a vital part of the behaviour process as is putting together a comprehensive report for your clients. This session can be done via Skype
- 1 x Private Session – Reports – after you have honed your skills by analysing more questionnaires, you will learn how to put your reports together for your client. This can be done by Skype.
- 2 x Full Behaviour Sessions – in these sessions you will be given demonstrations using either your own dog, or even a friends dog on how a consultation should be undertaken. This will involve the questionnaire, the actual consult and the report. All of these will be discussed with you as the process unfolds – excellent learning takes place here.
- 3 x Skype or one-on-one behaviour sessions – in these you will be the behaviourist and one of us the client. You will start with the questionnaire and go through the whole process treating us as if we were actual clients – this gives you valuable experience in what it is like when you do start working with clients.
- Monthly Practical Sessions – as in Module 2
- Monthly Skype Conference Sessions discussing various aspects of the course. These are with student participation as in Section 2
- 3 x Behaviour Consults with full reports to clients required for qualification - here you will work on other people’s dogs and do 3 full behaviour consults which will be submitted for final qualification. Each step of the process will be done under supervision by ourselves to give you the confidence you require.
- Monthly Theoretical and Practical Sessions – you can still attend the monthly sessions as listed in Module 2.
- You are mentored for a full year after qualifying. Instead of just leaving you to fend for yourself, we are here to help and guide you for your first year. You can send us your working plan for each and every client for a full year, and discuss with us the modifications you believe you will undertake. You can send us your report to scrutinize before sending to client. We are here 24/7 for any questions or help you may require.
