A career with dogs is really a wonderful and exciting career to consider – each and every day is different and watching a dog with fear behaviour for example, become a confident and happy dog is a sight that warms the heart and gives one a feeling of a job well done. In addition to getting to work with these wonderful animals on a daily basis, it really is a profession that has opened up so very much and there are now many different genre available to people wanting to peruse a career with dogs – knowing and understanding behaviour will stand you in excellent stead, no matter which direction you decide to go forward, whether Doggy Day Care, Grooming, Behaviour, Instructing, Dog Walking, Holiday Care, Kennel Owner etc.
This course is presented in an easy to follow format and is unbelievably comprehensive and will give you everything you need to start your career.
On this unique course you will gain:-
Your Time Investment
As you reach Module 3 where the work becomes totally behaviour related, there will be more work involved with includes a small amount of research and learning to work with and analyise questionnaires and how to prepare and present reports. Your Financial Investment You have 27 months to complete same.The full price is R10800 inclusive of all of the above. Payment is a deposit of R500, followed by monthly payments of either 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 24 months. The course must have paid in full before Certification is awarded. |

Practical Sessions Included on a one-to-one basis and can be held on either weekend or during the week. These are held in the `Lyndhurst 'area of Gauging - 5 mins from N3 and M1.
Session 1
Theory Session - no dog - Puppies - House Rules, Physical and Mental.Stimulation, Preventing Separation & Location Anxiety
Session 2
Practical Session - with dog - includes Sit, Down, Stand, Bite Inhibition, Swap Exercise, Recall, Preventing dogs pulling, Preventing Jumping Up,
Fading the reward, Food Bowl Exercises
Session 3
Practical session - as above, honing your skills - with dogs
Session 4
Practical Session - 5 F's of Behaviour, Calming and Appeasement Signals - no dogs
Session 5
Practical Session - dealing with fearful pups - fear of people, objects etc utilizing desensitizing counter conditioning

Tellington TTouch - no dog Session 9 Tellington TTouch - with dogs Session 10
Behaviour Consult with you and your own dog. This gives you an excellent insight as to the planning, the consult itself and the report supplied. Session 11
Adult Dogs - dog fearful of people (with demo dog if available) Session 12
Introducing a new dog into the existing pack Session 13 Introducing an existing cat to a new dog coming into the home Session 14
1 Final session practising your skills on the obedience exercises with your own dog. Included will be Sit and Down, Preventing Jumping up, Swap Exercise, Food Bowl Exercises, Stopping Pulling Session 15 1 x Private Session – Why behaviour problems can develop and working with Questionnaires– learning how to use and analyse a questionnaire correctly is a vital part of the behaviour process as is putting together a Pre-Plan. Session 16 1 x Private Session – Reports – after you have honed your skills by analysing more questionnaires and doing your preplanning you will learn how to put your reports together for your client. Session 17 & 18 2 x Full Behaviour Sessions – in these sessions you will be given demonstrations using either your own dog, or even a friends dog on how a consultation should be undertaken. This will involve the questionnaire, the actual consult and the report. All of these will be discussed with you as the process unfolds – excellent learning takes place here. Session 19 Practical session on dealing with aggressive behaviour both towards people and other dogs. There are often more than one sessions on this section. CBFC – Module 3 - Adult Dog Behaviour Only Session 20 & 21 2 x Practical sessions on presenting a behaviour consult. You will be the behaviour assistant and will present to two strangers as if they are your own clients. You will start with the questionnaire and go through the whole process treating us as if we were actual clients – this gives you valuable experience in what it is like when you do start working with clients. In Addition 3 x Behaviour Consults with full reports to clients required for qualification - here you will work on other people’s dogs and do 3 full behaviour consults which will be submitted for final qualification. Each step of the process will be done under supervision by ourselves to give you the confidence you require. PLUS You are mentored for a full year after qualifying. Instead of just leaving you to fend for yourself, we are here to help and guide you for your first year. You can send us your working plan for each and every client for a full year, and discuss with us the modifications you believe you will undertake. You can send us your report to scrutinize before sending to client. We are here 24/7 for any questions or help you may require. |
