Scotty Valadao![]() 3Scotty has been involved with dogs her whole life and has been working in the canine profession, on a full-time basis since 2002 and works daily with dogs with behaviour problems. She has obtained accreditation from the ABC of SA™ (Animal Behaviour Consultants of SA™), is registered with SABCAP as a Canine Behaviourist.
Her passion is sharing this knowledge with owners, as she says that “when you understand why your dog is engaging in a particular behaviour, you then have the knowledge and tools to change that behaviour”. In order to share this knowledge she is a regular guest on 702 radio, Cliff Central, Edenvale Local Radio and has been a guest on Mix FM. She offers regular workshops on different aspects of canine behavioural concerns to educate owners in SA, Scotland, Ireland and Portugal. Scotty contributes articles to various canine related publications and was on the staff of Canine Zone magazine. Her passion is fear behaviour and she has just successfully finished working with about 18 of the Roodewal Kennels Schnauzers in conjunction with Schnauzer Friends SA. Under the auspices of the ABC of SA™, she was instrumental in starting a free general newsletter to the general public, giving them further knowledge and a wealth of information on their pets. Scotty is the founder of www.friendsofthedog.co.za which is a free website featuring over 1300 articles on various aspects of dogs to further educate and help owners. Scotty also presents the Canine Behaviour Foundation Course to help those who want to pursue a career in the canine industry – this features both practical and correspondence course.. The newest addition is the Canine Behaviour Shelter Course where those that work, or at looking to work in shelters are given the tools to be able to make a real difference. Scotty and Charmaine have spent this past year working at various shelters, namely, Fallen Angels, Woodrock, Wollies and Adorbull to help to make the lives of the dogs in the shelters better, plus bring in procedures that will :-

Charmaine du Toit ![]() Charmaine has always had a passion for dogs and wanted to learn more about them. After undertaking the Canine Behaviour Foundation Course with Scotty, she realized that working with dogs had to be a part of her life and took her passion further by learning more and doing as many courses as she could.
In addition to becoming good friends Charmaine and Scotty are business partners and share the common goal of wanting to share education and knowledge and helping to improve the life of dogs and owners alike. Charmaine has been working with Scotty for the past 7 years and is a partner and Instructor in their Puppy School and also in the Canine Behaviour Foundation Courses. Charmaine is also co-founder of the free educational website www.friendsofthedog.co.za Charmaine has achieved both Level 1 and 2 as a Canine Behaviour Advisor and does private sessions with clients in her spare time.
