Scotty Valadao has been working with, and been passionate about dogs her whole life, and has been instructing dog training classes on a full-time, professional basis since 2002 when she ran a dog school, Canine Communications, with L. Griffiths and several years ago opened her own school, Scotty's Dogs. She is an Animal Behaviour Consultant (accredited by the Animal Behaviour Consultants of SA), a qualified dog training instructor, endorsed to instruct Puppy Training Groups and Basic Home Obedience classes, a veterinary nutritional advisor and has certification in Basic Animal Behaviour (Canine) at Technikon, Pretoria. She has also received certification from the Animal Care College U.K. where she undertook the Modern Theories of Canine Psychology, Behaviour and Obedience Course with them, obtaining a distinction. She is also qualified as a Tellington TTouch Practitioner, and hosts workshops and private TTouch session.
After becoming accredited by the ABC of SA, and under their auspices, she started the free general newsletter for the general public, which gives owners further knowledge and information on their pets. Scotty is passionate about sharing this knowledge to improve the lives of dogs and their people and hopefully this will result in less dogs ending up in shelters. To achieve this, Scotty is a regular guest on Radio 702. She contributes articles to dog related publications, she also is the Dog Behaviour Expert on Health24.com and has launched the free website www.friendsofthedog.co.za which features a host of informative articles on all aspects of dogs, written by South African professionals in their particular field of expertise.
She has had extensive experience in the 'alternative' modalities and is a qualified Louise L Hay Facilitator. In addition she has successfully completed courses in Reflexology (human and canine), Aromatherapy (human and canine), Bach Flower Remedies (human and canine).
She finds that the combination of behaviour modification, Tellington TTouch, Obedience Exercises, and owners understanding why their dogs engage in certain behaviours, appreciably enhances the success rate of behaviour modification and common behaviour problems.
Scotty takes great pleasure in helping owners to overcome the behavioural problems they are experiencing and to help them change their dog into a happy, well behaved members of the family. She specializes in Behaviour Modification, Tellington TTouch, Private Lessons and Puppy Starter Lessons. She also offers regular workshops on different aspects of canine behaviour.
